2017 Outlander GT - rear brake issue
 
hello everyone
my wife’s outlander needs rear pads and rotors. She has 30K miles. Pads are literally done. However, when my father went to change them, the calipers weren’t releasing. He said something about not being able to put the piston back in. He seems to think either the caliper is faulty or the Electronic Parking brake is activating (car is shut off, e-brake not on).
cany anyone help?
i don’t wanna go to the dealer because they charge too much for labor.

The vehicle is under warranty...If the calipers or e-brake are causing the pads to wear..which has to be the case at such low mileage..they should fix it with no problem...push them a bit...NO Way rear pads can wear that fast, Best of Luck!

Check if he's using a tool to wind the pistons back in as shown in this article.

The dealer said there was nothing wrong with the calipers. It’s normal wear and tare. I will be opening a case with Mitsubishi because I’ve never heard of brake pads wearing out at less than 30K miles.

And neither have they...lol...if possible...just take it to another dealer...its nonsense...rear brakes do not wear out that fast..even if you were a taxi or delivery driver...Mitsubishi will have to replace them..plain and simple...and perhaps the calipers as well. I had a brake noise/vibration issue on my 13 Lancer after about 4 months of driving...they just just replaced the front calipers, rotors and pads..no questions..no hassles...and problem solved...The dealer gets full reimbursement from the Manufacturer on all warranty work...so whats the problem?..keep pushing.

Mine wear out at 30,000km(back brakes) and about 40,000km(fronts). I'm also interested in your case. I'm thinking of opening a complaint as well the brakes shouldn't be getting done every year.

I did my rear brake pad replacement on the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander GT AWD and the EBP service light is coming on. how to reset it and any tool to reset it?

Did you put the braking system in service mode first? Or did you force he pistons back in to the rear calipers?
