Aftermarket Alarm Systems

Yes, use what came with your Outlander. It has an engine immobilzer as part of the alarm system. If a pro wants to steal your vehicle he is going to get it, but the OEM alarm should stop all others. As far as breaking in and stealing something inside your vehicle without stealing the vehicle itself, all an alarm can do is make a lot of noise. If it's a quick smash and grab, they will be long gone before you get to your vehicle.

yeah but i have an 09 outlander, im not sure if my car came with an immobilizer. I got a viper 5704 installed in my car this past weekend. I really like it, but i really wish i can "get rid" of the oem remote and just keep the viper remote.

It does come with an immobilizer as part of the alarm system. It only took me a couple of minutes to look it up on New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com.
2009 Mitsubishi Outlander ES 4dr SUV 2.4L 4-cyl. CVT Automatic Features and Specs
When you click on the link above go down to the safety section and you will see the engine immobilizer listed. This link is for the base (lowest priced) ES model so any of the higher priced 09 models would have it also.
Here's the problem. Your OEM remote sends a unique code to the ignition which allows you to start your vehicle. No code No start, that's how the immobilizer works. If you tamper with the OEM alarm you also have to bypass the immobilizer and if you don't totally disconnect it you could end up with a vehicle that won't start.
