Anyone with a 2011 Outlander Sport. PLZ READ.
 

To anyone with a 2011 Outlander Sport. I just purchased this CUV about a month ago, love it the more I drive it. But I am just wondering if it's just my truck because it only has about 500 miles on it. So I would like to know if other trucks is doing this. When I am stopped at a light and waiting for it to change about a good 15 seconds i notice that the rpms rev up to about 1 and then immediatly drops back down to a normal idle. Is this a problem I should bring up to the dealer or is it normal. Please anyone help me out with some info before I have the dealer look into this and start taking stuff apart on my new vehical.

With the New 2010 outlanders and 2011s, I know when stopped, the gear shifts into neutral. It doesnt sit in drive anymore. It may have somthing to do with the gears engaging, disengaging?

Yeah I believe it has something to do with the stop/go technology, whenever your vehicle will stop, the transmission engages into neutral to save a bit of fuel. As long as car accelerates from the stop in a normal manner then I wouldn't worry about it.

It's called "idle neutral logic". I did a google search on the phrase and came up with a lot of hits. Don't know if any of the articles go into great detail on how it works, but you may want to google it and see if one does.

Hmmm, have a 2011 Sport as well, with CVT, never noticed this problem and am at about 800 miles so far. Perhaps a call to the dealer is appropriate!

I have a 2010 outlander V6 with the ldle neutral logic or kind of unlogic!. I bought it brand new in feb 3, 2011, since then, it has stalled 4 times. It has been to the dealer 3 times, for more than 10 days out of 23 Days since it took the car . Basicallly, there seems to have some bugs in the computer between the transmission and the engine. On mine, the RPM goes below 500 rpm frequently (0-300 rpm) when the transmission down shift between the 3 to 2 gear. Quite dangerous because when it stalls, you lose the power steerings and brakes. Anyway, the idle neutral logic is like playing with fire, sometimes you burn yourself.... Sounds that it is not a good things to reduce the rpm below 500 to save 15$ buck of gaz at the end of the year. So no, you are not alone, you can see also some other posts.

You people are talking about two different vehicles here.... the Outlander SPORT... does not use idle logic... take your sport to service

I thought they use the same engine? the 4 cyl with idel logic...or is that just in the Outlander v6?

rvr 2011 GT 900km, have not noticed anything like that yet

Idle Neutral Logic is only on the 6 speeds automatic NOT on the CVT
