Anyone had warranty work done on intermittent promblem?

Has anyone successfully had warranty work done on an intermittent problem, meaning one that does not consistently show up?

My 2013 Outlander has this weird hiccup; occasionally when I use my turn signal or turn on my fog lights with the left steering column stalk the windshield wipers will swipe once.

I had my dealership look at it twice, but since they couldn't replicate it they were unwilling to take anything apart. I spoke to Mitsubishi NA and they indicate they need a full inspection before they can do anything, a catch 22. If the dealership disassebles the column and finds nothing, i may be held accountable for the labor according to them.
