In theory,
a lighter wheel responds betterwith anybumps in the road.
I'd guessthat thelighter wheel is easier for the suspension to control and is easier to rotate quickly,
maybe less of the gyroscope effect too when turning.

The question is...
Did your ride improve?

No matter what I said about your photo,
Your Outtie and wheel choice looks awesome!

Take care,
E

I would probably have to say yes that it did improve in responsiveness. After reading your post yesterday when I went to get my outie at the dealer after work I tried noticing if something improved in the ride with the new wheels and that's what I found I would have to try it on a nice scenic road to see how much of the responsiveness as changed but you can still notice it a little in the city while driving.

It's not a theory, lighter wheel, will give you better handling, since the wheel will tend to make better contact with the road over uneven surfaces. With less inertia on the wheel, the suspension will do a better job ofpushing the tire back to the road, after hitting a bump. You also get better acceleration and fuel economies, more so than removing the same amount of weight elsewhere in the car because the wheels not only need to be pushed forward when accelerating, you also need to make them turn, Buton a 2500lbs car, a couple of pounds of the wheel, won't be noticeable. On a 17lbs Bike a few grams make a big difference.

Thanks Roach!

I know a bit about Tactical Driving...
The pursuit vehicles used were always changed to alloy wheels.

SUV owners that changed to the large 20+ "bling bling" chrome rims (really heavy) noticed a large decrease in their mpg.
Maybe aerodynamics play a factor there too.

Take care,
E

You're not dreaming there is 2 valves it's really common on racing wheels as you use one to put air and the other one is use for the tire gauge so you can see you pressure at the same time.
