cabin air filter part numbers

Just changed the cabin air filter in my 08 ES. As many of you know trying to search for the filter using Mitsubishi Outlander can be frustrating since many major brands of filters have no listing for the Outlander. Well the good news is the cabin filter for a 2005 Nissan Altima works just fine. The only difference in size between the Outlander filter and Altima filter is 4/100 of an inch in width.

Outlander filter: 1.14 inch height 8.46 inch length 7.87 inch width

2005 Altima filter: 1.14 inch height 8.46 length 7.83 inch width

Here is the part numbers for the 2005 Altima cabin filter;
Purolator: C35530
Fram: CF10140
Bosch: P3784

I don't know... Think of all the mildew and mold that is going to come thru that 4/100ths of an inch!!! ;)

Thanks for the info! Good to know

It is good to know this azjake, but I would contact Mike Klosec (mitsupartsman) to ask him for spare parts and accessories OEM; he is still one stays "on-line" and him prices are great . . .

why is everyone so apprehensive about just using the correct mitsubishi part?

a little secret (thats not such a secret!) the factory parts are usually much higher quality than the crap you get aftermarket.

How much by your Nissan filter?

I e-mailed to mitsupartsman, here him response:

Cabin Air filter
P/N 7803A004
$38.96

I requested one set to have like spare part ;)

I paid $12.95 at Pep Boys for the Purolator filter. Because of the dusty conditions here in Phoenix it makes sense to change it every 6 months. I also keep a careful eye on the engine air filter. During the 3 summer months we occasionally get dust storms and if you're unlucky enough to drive through one, it can clog up a filter regardless of how good a quality it is.

I see fram dont make an air filter for the outty, just the lancer and eclipse, im guessing the lancer and outty have different sizes ?

How many miles/months is recommened for changing the air filter?

azjake Sep 13, 2009 08:53 PM

According to the mitsu maintenance schedule if you're following the severe maintenance schedule, which I do, the air filter should be changed every year or 15,000 miles. They also recommend changing the cabin filter every year on the severe maintenance schedule.
