Change air filter for beter gaz millage ?
 

few month ago, the dealer change my air filter, since that time, my gaz millage is more high, i feel my car dont have balle like before, dont sound the same when i press fast on the gaz, the only explanation i think, he put a CHEAP air filter.
is that possible ?
what kind, and how much, air filter should i put in my 08 outlander ?
Should i see a difference in gaz millage ?
at the begining 100 km/h on the hi way i was 8.0 - 9.0 l/100 km
now 100 km/h 10.0 - 11.0 l/100 km

I at 15k miles on stock air filter which is dirty and I didn't notice any difference in gas mileage, but I am replacing it with K&N and hopefully it will improve things. I do want to know if putting aftermarket air filter will void the warranty or not...

I'd definitely go K&N if you have the extra money. I don't know that a direct replacement will up your fuel economy, but I think it might very silghtly improve acceleration / response which seems to be what you want.

sometimes when a part is replaced, especially non OEM, the ECU has to re-learn a few things. for example, the new air filter may be more restrictive or the opposite. the ecu will eventually re-learn and run in sync with the new airflow value, but sometimes you just have to disconnect your battery and reconnect so that it resets those values and re-learns again.
not sure if this is true for Mitsu but this was how it worked on my Infiniti and most cars from the 90s.
basically it is reporting the old values of airflow as opposed to the new values after the filter change.
once the ECU re-learns, it will know how to compensate for the pluses and minuses.

Check to make sure that the air box is clip back properly. I remember and Old thread someone found out that the box was not in all the way and air was escaping resulting in his bad mileage.

roach is correct. check the filter air box.

i learned that you need to make sure that the bottom of the box is closed properly.

you can get the clips to engage but the "tabs" on the bottom are not lined up..

so the air box will be open a little allowing far to much air to be pulled in.
