Latest should be 2008, with '09 on the way..... they say.

And no, manufactures are not that far behind, just Mitsu unfortunately. They have to reprogram the maps to be formatted to the MMCS. So that takes time...

And $200 is MSRP. Should be able to find it for cheaper.

I would call them, they should have the most current map. Which should be 2008.

EDIT:
And for the '09 they say the first of 2010, which really means fall of 2010. So if you want upgrade now, '08 would be it.

I was a bit disappointed when I got my Outie with old maps on it.
It's like buying a new PC with a two year old OS on it... i know in Australia they use Whereis and Telstra has something to do that that, so maybe that is the reason why they are prehistoric here....

Well some one always hears about new maps coming out (from a dealer or a contact) and they usually get pushed back to later in the year. So, its kinda becoming the norm.

Default even 2008 map version sucks

i bought my brand new 2010 outlander XLS AWD V6 a couple of weeks back. The navigation map is a 2008 version but behaves like 1980 version I would like to point a few isssues here.
1. Point of Interest search: this is the most pathetic POI search i have ever seen in a navigation system installed in any vehicle. It was unable to locate places like walgreens, cvs, stein mart etc.. when an old (i mean 2004 map version) garmin gps was able to provide precise route map. This is really strange
2. Categories: There are some pre-defined categories. Where is Pharmacies in the list? Where is Department Stores in the list? This is ridiculous.

Can someone help me if i need to update the map? It's kind of annoying to see that i have to spend a lot on updating the map two weeks after the purchase of the vehicle.
