Complete newbie - help with converting Japanese to English

I have just bought an Outlander 2007 that is a Japanese import to Nz. How can I convert the monitor from Japanese to English. Please can you explain in simple terms as I'm not that technical. Thank you

broomfish 05-18-2013 12:04 AM

Very simple. You cant
The system is designed to be used in japan by japanese people.
The only option is to replace the system, or get a transated owners manual and learn to recognise the japanese symbols

mprojekt 05-22-2013 11:56 AM

You or a technician/engineer you trust could hack the MMCS and flash it from Japanese to English. These two threads contain information regarding that subject:

https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mi...ck-mmcs-25583/

https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mi...-system-31390/

Otherwise, Broomfish is correct.

What a fail broomfish :)

MMCS was designed by Mitsubishi for being sold world-wide.
Over a dozen of languages are supported.

Any market's MMCS can have any of supported languages, I can have Kanji interface on my Canadian MMCS if I like.

Mine was an 2006 outlander j-01 model stereo if I could have sniffed out a simple way to convert for free I would have giz-tec.com hopefully shortly might also be able to upgrade our stereos to new Zealand maps
I have just set up and used the music server changed a few settings that was near impossible before the only thing missing was the red guide lines on the reverse cam have the correct nz time and date there were also Aussie time zones in the settings now

Malboo 07-06-2014 12:03 PM

In regards to guidelines reverse camera Micheal from giz-tech replied back to with with this
Hold set+navi for 5 seconds.

- Hold menu for 5 seconds.

- Go to car type settings.

- Select 'i'

-press Set

The only problem with that is the system is not retaining the information and will revert back to 3H45X after a little while.

Believe me, I've been trying since I did the upgrade 5 weeks ago.

Rear Guide Lines MMCS

Yes you are are right after converting to English the rear guide lines for the cam disappears even after resetting to i in the menu guess we have to wait for a fix but all in all I'm very pleased with the conversion
The Music Server is really good now that in English I can now know how to use it correctly

Rear Guide Lines Back MMCS

Well yesterday I downloaded the data for a disk from Mitsubishi web site and upgraded the Gracenote Data Base on my stereo

Everything went okay I don't know why but after the upgrade I now have my rear cam guide-lines back after losing them when converting from Japanese to English on my stereo

Could be just a coincidence but i'm not complaining

Hmmm, this does sound promising. Could you please keep an eye on this in the next couple of days to check if they don't disappear again?

Benckj 07-14-2014 03:42 PM

I still need to convert mine to English but I'm a little concerned at some of those conversions work while others do not. hate to lose what I have now as I'm finding my way around the screens.

Got the CD with all the new software and waiting to pull the trigger once my confidence level is up. Any work on getting the OZ/NZ maps?

Can someone please advise me how to convert my MMCS from Japanese to English. I m seeing flash memory and also seeing a CD. Still confused after reading this tread.

sresky 08-07-2014 10:09 PM

Hi there,

We can convert your MMCS to english, please message us through our website - www.Giz-Tec.com

Are your reverse lines staying on now Malboo? I am looking into this issue and only seems to appear now and then - it possibly does have something to do with the Gracenote version.

Reversed into a Mazda Demeio the other day but couldn't blame the reverse lines no damage to any car thank goodness LOL

Wow you're lucky.

That's why I've installed an audible warning as well so if I even misjudge the distance by lines I still have beeping sound telling me I've gone to far as well as distance meter showing it.
Lines actually are removed completely for a cleaner picture.

Good idea normally I can see the lip of the rear bumper and get close when I reverse will look into the rear sensors though

We should have this issue sorted soon, seems to only happen to the odd vehicle - you were just an unlucky one :)

We will set it as default so you can choose to turn it off if you don't like them

Malboo 08-23-2014 12:55 AM

Hi I would like the reverse lines if possible I like to have all the bells and whistles working

will look forward to the fix

niazqamar 08-31-2014 04:15 AM

To convert dial settings into english you may go to setting menue by pressing info button while parked. Once in setting menue, you may choose language option for you to get info on english. Other language options are available too

All is possible but will take some work. Search the forum as there are numerous threads discussing subject.

I too am in NZ, wondering how you managed to access this? i cannot register on the site as it does not accept NZ zip code?

Benckj 02-07-2015 11:15 PM

Better to send your HDD to HJB who is also on TradeMe as stereos peak and have him download translated. Can do maps as well which work great.

Jim

Wouldn't be worth it for those maps as they are $350 each with no updates available, add conversion cost onto that..unless of course you didn't pay for them?

Benckj 02-13-2015 01:10 PM

Maps bought from another model and converted to work. We shared the cost so it worked out very reasonable.

:roll eyes: Of course it works out reasonable if you share the cost, but you do realise its still considered piracy if you 'share' the cost right?

Benckj 02-14-2015 02:42 PM

The MMCS already contains legal maps so it is simply a case of converting them to work for your region. Is this not the same as providing a translation conversion from Japenese to English? Has anyone obtained permission from Misubishi to alter thier software?

You're an idiot if you truly believe that - The JDM MMCS comes with Japanese maps created by a different map company.

The maps you are using are converted from a different make and model vehicle altogether - Theres a huge difference between altering software that is available against buying maps, converting them and giving them away or even selling them for profit

...

Pretty much what he said.
Y'all must have wondered by now in all the years I've been working on these units why I never *once* participated in piracy.
It's cause they can, and do, kick your front door in and cart you off to an unpleasant place for a *very* unpleasant chat.
Happened to my best friend, is *not* going to happen to me.

Hey Mate, No need to get nasty to Jim he is trying to help the mitzy community.
He is testing the maps and it is on one vehicle as I currently don't have a MMCS.
I'm working on licencing with the company so it is all above board. As I remember correctly you tested the same Maps the same way with Vadimus ;-)
Kind Regards

Dont know what else this setting affects, but I've heard this is for traction control, so changing it to the other setting might affect the cars handling in an emergency??? Dont know ho true this is??? Cannot realy find anything on the internet that can confirm this.

Please help?

Can you let me know how you changed system to English?
