Dead battery
 

Went to get in my 2010 Outlander. Hit the remote to unlock doors and nothing happened. Battery is totally dead. Tried jumpstarting and nothing, not even the interior lights came on. There is a clicking noise coming from the fuse box area. No lights or anything left on. Car worked fine the day before. Anybody have ideas?

if the battery is not sealed, you could check the cells to make sure they have acid/water in it. Otherwise I think it'd be a trip to the stealership.

Batteries die all the time. Cars sit at dealerships for long periods of time and the cells will sulfate sitting there.

Check your fuse box too.

Car was fine the previous day. Checked battery water lvl, it is fine. Checked fuse box, they are all good. Yep, looks like a call to the stealership is in order.

Don't bother, the battery isn't covered.

Head on over to your auto parts store and get one.

I was thinking more along the lines that a battery should not die within 3 years. it is under warranty...if he has the time, have the stealership check it out.

on the flip side, auto parts stores should be able to test the battery if it is dead or just was drained.

UPDATE: car went to stealership. It seams there is an issue if the the light switch is left in "auto" mode. At some point the lights can turn on and totally drain the battery to the point that jumpstarting will not even work. Mitsubishi is aware of this situation but failed to send out notifications. it is covered under warranty and there is a "fix". So if you have an Outlander DO NOT leave the light switch in "auto mode" Will keep this post updated as to if the fix actually works.

I'v e had my headlight switch in the "auto" mode from the day I bought it new last August. No problem-yet.

The only maintaince so far, battery wise, was to check and fill with water to the split rings.

the battery says "Maintaince Free", but if it has caps, it really isn't. The manual also mentions checking level in battery.

Have you tried cleaning the battery terminal, and add a thin layer of grease to the terminals, like Vaseline.
