I've looked through the service manual several times...they mention a filter, but it just doesn't seem like it is a part that is serviced normally. They mention it while discussing the fuel tank...so I think it is in the fuel tank assembly. The interesting thing is, it isn't even listed in exploded views. if you find it, tell us about it.

Not suprised they dont normaly service the fuel filter.I recently had a service and was told the next service includes replacing the fuel filter at a cost of $384 plus labour.I know the old inline filters cost about $10 -$15 so where does the other $380 go (unless the mechanics are paid mega-dollars ???.

Last time I was at the stealership, labor was $90 an hour.

They are saying the filter assembly retails for $140. I'd press for details.

It is part of the fuel pump assy. Tank has to be removed to get to it.

The biggest problem with it is rusty fuel lines and connectors. Sometimes it's better to plan on replacing the sending unit (which includes the pump assy) rather than try to save rusted lines.

Mitsubishi put a convenient access panel right above the tank. you just need to remove the carpet/styrofoam...no idea how easy that would be.
