Gear Selector light on console or instrument panel
 

new guy here and have a question for owners of a 2003 or similiar outlander. I am looking at buying one and the gear selector lights up on the dashboard but not on the console where the shifter is. I searched on here and found this issue on other models but nothing about the outlander. The salesman said it only lights up on the dash but he is a dodge salesman so not sure if he assumes it's normal or not.

Can anyone here confirm if your gear selector lights up on the console near shifter in addition to what lights up on the dashboard? Thanks

should add that i did see a post about this question but the photo in that post shows a manual transmission where mine would be an automatic so that post was not helpful since the shifter was all together different..

On my UK 2004 model, there are only indication lights on the dashboard, and nothing on the shifter. Strange, but you get used to it.

I have a 2008 US Outlander and it only shows on the dash.

thanks for the replies. Is your console lit up at all or is it completely dark. This one was dark. I guess I would get used to looking at the dash but also used to seeing the console backlit etc. I was not sure if my question was clear enough so should have asked it as is the console lit up all, showing P, N, D etc and not just what gear it was in. thx

The console does not light up on my Outlander when I turn on the lights.

thanks for the replies. Took another look at the outlander yesterday and going to pass on it.. very nice vehicle but little too much rust underneath and in the engine compartment so going to pass. its a shame as other than that it was a 9 out of 10 for an 2003 but I do not like rust.
search goes on...there are not many outlanders for sale (pre-owned) so not sure what I will end up with.
I appreciate everyones help..
