Default Hand's free system question

My hand's free system in my 2011 Outlander XLS is acting up... Time to time everyone who I call complaining that they can barely hear me, sometimes quality drops in the middle of the call and it sounds like I am very far from the speaker . I have an Iphone 3G which I connect via bluetooth. Did anyone experienced the same issue? Where the actual microphone is located? Thank you.

My hands free mic is located in the center lighting panel above the rearview mirror. Haven't had it long enough to link a bluetooth phone yet (just brought it home last night...), so I can't comment on call quality.

I was reading on the form somewhere that the Iphones either needed a firmware upgrade or revert back to a older firmware to work correctly in the Outlanders.

The iPhone 3G was problematic with OEM hands-free systems. Apple released a firmware update that was supposedly going to fix the problem, which it did for some, but not everyone. Sometimes a factory reset could fix the problem, too, but if you try that method make sure you back up your phone or you'll lose everything. Two quick troubleshooting tips ... try and pair another non-iPhone with your Outlander (you can pair up to 8) and see if it exhibits the same problem, then you'll know if it's the phone or the system. Secondly, you can try and take your iPhone into the dealer to see if they would let you pair it with a different Outlander to see if you can recreate the issue, then you'll know it's the phone.

No problems here with call quality and my Nexus One. People tell me it sounds better than my old BT ear piece.
