Default Hello quick DRL HID question

So i got a new outlander (2010) last week, and tossed in some HID's i did a full kit with the regulator and relay for the DRL. the issue i am having is this. i come from a Jeep grand, the lights on that turned on and off automatically. so I keep catching myself driving around with my HID DRL on now and not turning on my actual lights! To be honest our state does not require DRL and i want to disable them. I have been hunting the forum for info on this and seem to get mixed messages, some i have read say i can just unplug the fuse and others say i have to hook up a bypass. Does anyone have solid info on this that i can use? first round of mods have started... i own a powdercoating shop so we will be doing a bunch of coating work on the new ride. Glad to be part of the site now!

6000k 35 w

also converted the interior lights to 4 pod 50/50

I am using a harness that is identical to that and then has a digital decoder as well for flicker issues

Since you have fogs, you can go the ETACS customization route and use your fogs as DRLs. I haven't done it, but I read about it in there. It'd let you do some other stuff as well.

I hope those HID's are in projectors... Otherwise you're just binding everyone else.

Projectors, reflectors... it doesn't matter. You can't safely put xenon arc bulbs in optics designed for halogen bulbs. That's why it's illegal in most of the world. See here. Take em out before you injure somebody.

There has also been more than a few tests that have shown HID's in halogen reflector housings actually put out less usable light even though the whiter/bluer color tricks your eyes into thinking other wise.

well thanks for the imput on the lights, but i will be leaving these in... our shop is down some really back roads and leaving at 2 and 3am it is way to dark not to run HID... i run 6000k 35w to cut down on glare and propperly aim them, no i am not blinding anyone, and yes they are going to stay. Thank you for the help on the fog light conversion, i will look into that...

got my tint done last night, i love them!... also my new grill came in and hitch... just need to decide what colors i am going to do on my powder coating so that i can knock it all out...

i was really hoping that i could simply pull a fuse or cut a terminal off a relay like i have seen on some of the other car forums... looks like the hunt for DRL disable continues

Check out the ETACS ECU customizing thread. I think you can change the DRL settings with a Lexia
