How to change abs wheel sensor
So all my abs lights go on, the traction light goes on(and slows the car) and the check engine light goes on as well... took it to the dealer, (this just started happening three days after replacement of a catalytic convertor) and ran through their computer, and said I have an intermitent left rear wheel abs sensor that is failing... wanted $480 for a fix. Is this realistic..
Have done a lot of work on my own, but this is a first, and cannot find a decent post or your tube showing what troubles, (or lack of) that may face me.... Appreciate any guidance that any member may lend hand to..
BTW, with 68,000K miles on the outlander, the undercarriage is quite rusty, and I think this is why, first I lost my catylitic converter (the dealer covered it) and now the speed sensor,, even by discs on the rear are very pitted.. (again the dealer suggested replacement due excessive wear on pads , and btw, these were replaced at about 35K) again, something that others may have experienced?????

I had my left rear speed sensor go out when I was at 45k miles. So luckily I was still under full warranty.
that being said, I had to replace the rear output shaft seal in my rear differential a few years back...which meant I had to remove my speed sensor. It really isn't too difficult. However, it did take some WD-40 to loosen up some grime. it is only held in by a 10 or 12mm bolt...but the dirt did make some light taps with a hammer necessary.
Not sure what year or trim you have, but here's what mine takes.
