How to replace heater/AC blower motor?

The blower motor in my 07 Outlander has starting making loud noises and of course, the weather is very cold now. Our winter has been pretty mild but now that I have to repair the car, cold air is coming down from our Canadian brothers. I looked at the online repair manual and it seems to indicate that I have to pull the complete heater core assembly to disassemble it and replace the blower motor. Has anyone on the forum already replaced the blower motor and can you provide any advice? I am going to attempt to pull the blower by itself but it would be nice to hear from someone that has already looked into this.
Update, I should have searched first. CCernst has a thread from late 2011 describing same problem and confirming that the blower fan/motor assembly can be pulled separately without a lot of trouble. Thanks, CCernst for taking the time to post that. Now, I don't feel so bad poking around in the cold weather to get this done.
