Default Ipod Hook Up

I am wondering what the best way to hook up your ipod is to the RCA jack in the back seat. Can you control this off of the AUX setting or do you always have to make the changes on your ipod? I bought a cable that hooks up the rca to the standard plug you use for your headphones but noticed at bestbuy they have a plug that goes into the base of the ipod. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

You will not be able to control your Ipod with the factory radio. The adapter that plugs into the base of the Ipod does the same thing as the headphone jack, but I did notice a better sound quality using the base adapter as opposed to the headphone adapter.

So what is the point in having the RCA connection in the backseat? What do people use this for? You cannot watch video while the car is in motion and they could have put in a much simpler connection for an mp3.
