K&N air filter
I have a 2005 Outlander XLS, I was told that installing a K&N air filter would improvement the fuel MPG along with HP.
I'm not really concerned about extra power etc. but would sure like to increase MPG. Any thoughts. Brian |
RE: K&N air filter
Brian,
I'm picking up a K&N air filter for my 2004 XLS Outlander today. I too am looking for more MPG. I'll let you know how it works. |
RE: K&N air filter
I went on the K&N site, and couldn't find a filter for my 2008 outie. Do they evenmake them for 07/08 model year or not yet?

RE: K&N air filter
I've used a K&N on my previous 3 cars and I've never noticed a difference..

RE: K&N air filter
Just because you can't feel 5 extra hp, doesn't mean it isn't there. Believe me your a/f ratio will look a little different after the filter install.

RE: K&N air filter
I was thinking more in the MPG department..but it's never been much of a noticeable change in the power area either on my last 3 vehicles. The biggest advantage would possibly be in savings in air filter replacements if you plan on keeping it for a long time...but then there are people that say it lets in more dirt incrasing wear on the engine.
I'm not anti-K&N..I have one on my bike along with a hi flow setup and it made a huge difference..I've just not noticed the same with their drop in filters in cars...which lets me believe that the real bottlenecks aren't with filter. Just went to K&N's site..and they no longer claim that their filters will give you better fuel economy over other types of filters..they only say that replacing a dirty filter can increase mileage...I'm guessing they got in some trouble over the claim |
