Not really sure how to go about doing that. I'm pretty sure there's a newer version out there.

All you really need and might not have - old laptop with PATA/IDE hard drive. If you do have it I will write a VERY detailed instruction how to do it.

As for having newer version somewhere out there... No one rushes to share it.
After all we could group buy a 2013 version from navigation.com.
Here is a reply I got from them:

Thank you for inquiring about HERE Maps. The latest disc for your 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS is version 2013. This can be ordered online for $199 plus shipping and tax, by visiting our web store at NAVTEQ navigation - Update your sat nav with the latest NAVTEQ maps.. Prices subject to change.

If you need additional assistance, please send us your feedback by replying to this email.

Kind regards,

Well, don't really have an old laptop to do that with. Was going to order the latest map update from that same place until I saw the price. The map version that's loaded on my MMCS recognized the freeway and streets that are new and close to my house. So I'm happy for that at least. The '08 EVO we had for work had very outdated maps and didn't recognize the freeway, which drove me insane.

Guess I forgot I posted the question earlier. I found that same diagram myself. So yes, I did have to remove two Phillips screws on the center section of the dash and pop that top cover off....carefully. Everything fit into place perfectly and the it's all working perfectly. The whole install took hardly any time at all once I saw the diagram.

Just wondering do you have to activate/program or initiate anything of the MMCS with the dealer computer?

And what is that environmental unit mounted underneath the bracket?

no need to go to the dealer. The box below is the can bus module. It talks to the car and visually shows what's going on with your HVAC system as well as a few other things. Like mileage on your car for maintenance, ect

No sound???

Trying to install a mmcs unit from an 08 into 12 lancer. Everything works, but I have no sound..... any idea how to fix this?

Does the 2012 Lancer have the Rockford Fosgate system to begin with?

No. It came with a single disc cd player. I bought the 6 disc RF head unit. And I've had no problems out of it. I was able to buy the MMCS unit for 175.00. The mitsubishi dealer couldn't help me with the sound issue. I just really want this fixed.

Good day, having read a few of your helpful advice replies to members on this Mitsubishi dedicated forum, I wonder if you could assist me with an error I have most recently encountered with my UK registered 2013 Outlander gx4. The MMCS e-06 is functioning in all modes but with no sound whatsoever. I’ve had a car audio tech have a look at it (10 minutes),suspects its an amplifier fault and he recommended main dealer as the unit is tamper proofed. Contacted main dealer who informed me they do not repair but do replace at an incredibly high cost. Most grateful for any practical advice please.

It does sound like the amp is at fault. To replace it at the dealership is rather expensive. The only place I know of here in the USA that would be able to fix it would be United Radio in Syracuse, NY ( Repair and Remanufacturing | United Radio ). They might be able to assist in finding either a repair facility in the UK. Or maybe you can ship them your amp to be repaired (freight and duties might be pricey).
