Default MP3s burned to DVD?

Does anyone know if you can play MP3's from a burned DVD (not CD) with the 2007 Outlander XLS? I seem to recall that there's a limit of 400 songs, but I'm not sure if a burned DVD will even work. (I tried it last night, but the DVD I was using was significantly scratched, so this may have prevented it from playing).

Thanks!

Yes and no. Allow me to explain.

The radio comes equipped with a CD-player that is compatible with MP3 songs, which is awesome. I have over 200 songs on 1 CD (yeah, why need a 6-disk CD-changer, huh).

Now, the dask CD-player does NOT play DVDs. What plays DVD MP3 disks is the car's entertainment system (the DVD player on the back of the car). Believe it or not, you can use that to play music!!

Now, the Nav system (I don't have one) can save up to 40GB of songs, maps, phone numbers, etc). That is awesome, but as far as I know, you need to load the songs CD by CD. But again, I don't have one, so I cannot say 100% for sure.

Dude, to be honest with you, I don't even care about using the Bluetooth system the car came with. I love gadgets, but I don't trust the privacy issue associated with making calls past a car system.

Thanks, I agree with what you say, however, I have the nav system which uses a combination CD/DVD player in the front (i.e. its not just a CD player). I have confirmed that the following will play (on the front unit) in my system:

- commercial music CDs
- commercial movie DVDs
- commercial movie DVDs uh, "archived" to a DVD-R/DVD+R
- MP3 files burned to a CD-R

What I would like to know is if MP3 files burned to a DVD-R (or DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, etc.) will play (I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't, except, perhaps, due to a possible limit on the number of files [I seem to recall that the limit is 400]). I would try it myself, but my DVD burner is incredibly flakey; I wan't to know if it's worth buying a new one or not).

Thanks!

I would assume that reading music off a DVD would work. Its reading the mp3 format of the dvd. You know what, Im going to burn some songs onto a DVD cd and take it out to the car. I will repost in a little while.

If you don't mind not seeing who the artist is or what song it is then a DVD loaded with MP3's should work just fine.

I burned a dvd with mp3s and it said check disk or something like that. It would not play. I even had the car in park to make sure the over ride for the dvd player wasnt kicking in.

The same thing happened to me... all the screen said was "check disk", and refused to play... oh well.

As far as the missing track list / artist info... it might have something to do with the fact that the system only supports ID3v1/ID3v1.1 tags...
