Default Newbie considering 2012 Outlander sport

I am considering buying a new Outlander Sport and am a little concerned with what I am reading about the mileage. I am considering the ES 5 sp manual. I always get better mileage than cars are rated for. What kind of mileage are you getting in an ES manual? Do you drive economically or just drive normal? Most of my driving is about 63mph on Interstates around Chicago.
Thanks

Those people have to have been drag racing or driving up mountains towing a trailer. I upgraded to a K&N High Flow drop-in panel filter ($35 shipped from amazon and less than 2 minute install, it took longer to open the box than to put it in!) and saw over a 3 MPG jump just from that, which means the filter has already paid for itself and then some.

Mine is a CVT 4WD, and I drive ~55-65MPH daily on I-355 out in the far west suburbs of Chicago.

The drastic "spike" a month or two ago was when my ECU was reflashed to the 2012 software. I was having the cold start issue and when they went in to update the CPS for the TSB, the tech said the 2012 software was listed as an availible "upgrade" from Mitsu for my VIN and they reflashed EVERYTHING. I was pissed at first, but once the CVT "relearned" the mileage has been phenominal.

Overall, I highly recommend an Outie Sport, especially the SE 4WD. Just gotta go into it knowing that you aren't buying an Evo.

Also, not a large sample pool, but the 2011's are averaging about 26 MPG mixed and the 2012's are seeing about 28 MPG mixed: Mitsubishi Outlander Sport MPG Reports | Fuelly

Test drove an Outlander Sport ES manual and I liked it more than I thought I would.

From my research you should be able to get about same numbers as the EPA estimate says on this car. As to getting better than what the sticker says, that is an exception on some cars but not always. Some cars definitely get lower than they advertised.

Be sure to try to outlander ES as well. If you can find a 2011 you can actually get it cheaper than the outlander sport!

First trip to work and back 60miles and I was averaging 35mpg!! I have the ES 5M. How optimistic is this computer? My mini was 10% optimistic! I keep a log book and calculate mpg myself when I fill up.

I'd say mine reads about only 1-2 MPG over my actual. My trip to and from work usually will read 32-34 MPG on the screen at the end, and my pump calculations lately have been 31-32 (factor in some other city driving occasionally too)

I just picked up a 2011 Outlander Sport SE AWD and I never thought I would like an automatic (I have always driven manuals) and I am really enjoying the car. Gas mileage is great. I am getting about 27 MPG on the hwy.

Forums can be a great resource. I wish these forums had a separate sub-forum for the Outlander Sport. Most Outlander Sport ?'s are pushed past the first page quickly because of the outlander ?'s.

I bought a base outlander sport ES manual. So far my mpg's are as follows
35.68
32.47 This and next fill up were driving 75-80 from Minnesota.
34.28
35.19
34.80
37.27
35.94
All these fill ups are when the pump clicks off and all but two are same station.

My initial impression of the Outlander Sport is I enjoy almost everything except the floating at highway speed and the complete lack of quickness (my last car was a '08 Cooper S).
