OEM Tow hitch wiring harness (MZ314612)

Has anyone installed a Mitsubishi Tow hitch wiring harnesses? I'm wondering if you only have to plug it into the tail light connections or if you still have to run a wire through the car to the battery.

It has plug on the inside left side. You will need to drill a little hole on the bottom of the left side quarter panel to route the wiring to the outside of the vehicle. You have to remove the rear bumper to install the oem tow hitch and wiring. Also there is another wiring that will need to be plug to oem wiring on the front behind the left headlight and connect to the battery.

I just did a Curt hitch and wiring harness install on my 2018 Outlander PHEV. The wiring plugged right into the factory socket. I had to run a hot and ground, but since there is a battery in the back it was easy. I didn't drill a hole, I'll just run the wire under the hatch when I need it. The Curt hitch was an easy bolt on; no need to remove the bumper.
