Outlander 2.4 MIVEC engine
 

I'm considering the Outlander SE 2008. I've test driven it and liked its performance, at least on the test drive. It has the CVT transmision, which I think that in theory it's a good thing, and I liked how it felt.

I don't see too much info on that engine, even how much HP it has. It's not that important since I've tried it, but I would like to know. One salesman said 190 and another one 160.

It actually has 155hp (116kw) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Outlander

The CVT is an interesting one. You have even the slightest heavy foot, and your MPG is dead.

Hi,

I have a Outlander 2008 2.4 with CVT and manual says that is has 170 hp. I live in Finland so 2.4 is the only petrol option in here.

I'm curious to know why you picked the petrol engine, when you could choose the diesel? If the Diesel was available here, that would have been my choice.

168 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 167 lb.-ft. @ 4,100 rpm, in canada. but it could vary depending on the various country or state emmission control standards

Another thing you need to concider, not sure it's relevant to you, is the towing capacity, the 2.4 has 681 kg. / 1,500 lbs.and the 3.0 1,590 kg. / 3,500 lbs.But I think that it's the transmission that make most of the difference.

Petrol engine was the only one with CVT transmission. Diesels would have been manual and I like to drive with automatic. Towing capasity is at my specs 1500 (trailer with brakes) kg and 750 (trailer without brakes) kg for 2.4 petrol. With diesel engine those figures are 2000 kg and 750 kg.
