Default Outlander Fuel Economy & seat conversion

Hi Folks,

I'm not yet an Outlander owner yet.....but am seriously considering buying one and so I'm looking for a little firsthand feedback to the following 2 questions:

1) Based on the reviews I've read I'd go for the 2.2L Di-D version as the 2.0L seems to be underpowered.
I do a lot of motorway driving (probably 60%) of my total mileage and am very interested to know if anyone has been tracking their mpg manually (not via the onboard computer)? If so I'd be really interested to know your results (whether it's for mainly town or motorway driving).

2) The 3rd row of seats won't be of any use to me.....has anyone had these removed from their Outie?
Thanks,
Steve.

Hi Kene,
As a matter of interest do you recall how much weight you saved when you took the seats out?
What did you do with the resulting hole
Thanks.

You can order it without the 3rd row seats. Cheaper that way too

I am not living in Europe, I dunno much about it. But I don't have the 3rd row seats, I only got the secret compartment there (secret compartment to my friends, they are surprised when they think that no one has it, and have no idea where is it from)

Nothing to do cart wheels over, MPG has seemed to improve a little though, I did remove the spare tire and the holder. The hole is just there, I haven't done anything with it yet. I have a blanket over it so you cant see it anyways.

Default Outlander fuel economy.

Ref Fuel economy,
I have a 2.0l di. I do mostly 'A' road driving, (no motorways around here) !. I have kept a record of all the fuel I have used on a spread sheet which is attached. You will see that I mostly get 40 + mpg. Where it shows in the 30's is when I am towing a 1500kg gross weight caravan. I have no complaints re consumption.
With regard to power, I find the 2.0 ltr is adequate for me even towing, however it is highly geared and you have to change gear more frequently when towing compared with my previous Citroen 2.0 litr diesels. For solo motorway driving the 2.0 should be OK ( unless youre a 'speed freak'... lol

Hope above helps
