Outlander GT 2014: "Ding" warning noise when driving on curvy roads

When driving our new Mitsubishi Outlander GT 2014, on curvy roads ( Highway 1) I get this "ding!" noise very often. It sounds like the noise you hear when you are flying in an airplane and you hit the button to call the flight attendant. (This is not the noise from LWD or FCM which make beep like alarms.") My hunch is that it seems to have something to do with my speed, curviness of road, and incline. It sounds like a warning (You are going too fast, please slow down.) On a 3 hour trip on Highway 1 it will happen hundreds of times. On a normal freeway it never happens.

I am pretty sure it is some setting I have set incorrectly.

Grateful for any pointers. :)

Thanks!

It is part of the nav unit. The ding you hear is alerting you to a big curve ahead. I don't know if you can disable it. I haven't found it that annoying yet. I'm sure in the nav side of things you can alerts off.

Thanks! Just turned off curve guidance.

it pains me that there is a market for vehicles that have to tell the "driver" theyre approaching a corner.

Flip it back on and go do skids in a carpark and see what happens.

It can be useful driving in the dark or heavy fog environment or in the mountain curvy road at speed.

if you cant stop or evade in half the clear distance ahead of you, youre probably going too fast. Defensive driving 101.

But what would i know. Hey, how much does your guys insurance cost again?

Seriously. I would smash that thing.
