Outlander OEM hitch missing bolts
 

Hi guys,
I purchased OEM Hitch KIT online.
I had it sitting in my storage for awhile and when time finally came to install it i found that i am missing all the bolts and brackets.

Mitsu only sells it as a kit and not just the bolts/brackets.
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem for me?

What year is your Outlander? The reason I ask is that the 2007-2013 version does not have any brackets (only bolts).

Here are the installation instructions for the Curt version of the hitch. They list the size specs on the bolts and washers that you'll need (items 1 & 5 only - the carriage bolts and washers):

The bolt size should be the same as the OEM hitch. The only difference is you'll need four more for the OEM version as it also has bolts that go in through the side (for a total of 10). You can see how the extra four bolts mount up in the OEM hitch instructions:

Important - Make sure you get the proper grade of bolt. Visit a proper hardware supplier like Fastenal that will carry Grade 8 and above (not Home Depot or Ace Hardware). I don't know what grade would be necessary for a hitch installation but they should be able to tell you.

One other note since it looks like you're installing the hitch for the first time - The threaded holes in the body that the hitch mounts to can get really rusty and crud filled over time, especially if you live in a northern climate with rough winters. You might want to check them out first before you pull the muffler hangers, etc. and make sure they're in good shape. Test a few of them with a bolt first. You might need a thread chaser and penetrating oil to clean up the threads.

That is helpful, thank you Karmann. I dont think i would trust anything but grade 10 for the bolts. I will keep everyone posted on how things go

I'd go grade 10 bolts for a hitch. But also make sure they are zinc coated as well, so they don't rust within a year.
