Default Outlander's Panic Alarm

I decided to test the panic alarm of my 08 Outlander (yeah, the red button we all hope never to use)...
Only to find out that the stupid "PANIC" alarm does not work... The open and close buttons work but the red button when press it does nothing...

Am I missing something here?

Did the dealership silenced the Panic alarm? Are both keys broken? Am I supposed to do a setup of the alarm somewhere?

Any ideas or help will be very welcomed

I just tried out mine and it works. I did notice that you need to press it hard and hold it down for a couple seconds. My wife was wondering what I was doing... The things I do for the Internet.

Also, if you have the MMCS, go to the equipment menu and make sure the panic alarm hasn't in fact been disabled.

There are two types of F.a.s.t. key controls for the units sold in Mexico, and one of them yes has the red button:

The 2008 USA & Canada models do have a red panic button on the control (near the key area). Mainly it's used to ask for help or call for attention in case of a thief or any other personal distress...

press and HOLD it. You'll notice when it starts up. It's on a 2-3 second delay so if you accidently tap it, all hell doesn't break loose(try it in an enclosed garage...its very loud).

As far as I know, the 07 and 08 keys are very different... You'll have to ask your dealership if they can do that but you may not be able to (for one, the valet parking key is also different...)
