What is the status on the Outlander paint. I have been hearing that the side of the suv is prone to chipping from rocks etc. One of the latest consumer report type mags recently gave the Outlander high marks, but a black circle in the paint category.

There have been some threads on this forum in the past that talk about this, but I don't remember seeing any recently. Maybe you could do a search to try and find them.

I've had my 08 ES for 23 months now, and don't have any problems with chips. However I live in an area where it never snows, and rarely rains, so I don't have the problem of driving on wet roads where rocks, salt, and other debris can get picked up by your tires, and then thrown onto the side of your vehicle.

My 08 with gray metallic paint is pretty good. Somebody hit my car pretty hard with their door and the paint just got dented in instead of cracking. Maybe it depends on the colour and type of paint you choose?

I read the review and also noticed a few owners using a clear 3m product.
It would seem that if there was an issue they would have resolved it, but that is what I am trying to fnd out.
I live in the hot sunny Florida, no snow plows or anti icing products on the roads.

On my 2008 LS in canada, even with the OEM Mudflap, my car was all SAND BLAST in the back, and rusted already.
So now is juste cost me 1000$ to fix it,
So yup i change mine for a 2010, so wish its fix

I also have the graphite gray paint on my 2007 LS and the paint has held up well.
