You can't buy just the torque converter, even if you are in the united states. Trust me, i've looked. You have to buy the whole transmission.
But are you sure you need a torque converter??? The 4cylinder has the CVT transmission, you sure you're not having a problem with the CVT transmission, which are commonly known to shudder??? The nissan pathfinder just had a large recall on this problem, and shuddering issues are common on CVTs. |
thank you .

not sure what a cvt is but ill sure run it by my friend see if it helps him thanks .

CVT stands for "continuously variable transmission", meaning instead of gears, it uses a belt which stretches on one side and contracts on another to simulate different gear sizes and therefore ratios. Essentially, you have an infinite number of gear ratios.

oh ok , so what do i need a new belt or something ?

I would do as much diagnosis with the car in tact before taking anything apart. Do you have a check engine light or anything??
How did you come to the conclusion it was a torque converter. Several things can give you the same feeling as a bad torque converter. Several things can make the car shudder like a bad wheel bearing, bad axle etc.... To replace a torque converter or CVT belt, you'll have to take the transmission off, which is alot of work. I'd be sure it's not a sensor, a hose, or something else causing the problem before i do that. |
doesnt just shudder , it makes a loud screaming sound and loses power . it has been in pieces for months now the transmission is not in the truck , hasnt been for a while . the mechanic here thinks its the torque converter , im at a loss here i dont know what to do .i really do appreciate the time you are taking to respond to me to help me , thank you .

he says it sounds like its coming from the transmission , but ive looked everywhere i cant find a torque converter anywhere or in any country .
