Remove Door Panels to Replace Speakers

Anyone out there ever removed the door panels (front & rear) to replace the stock speakers with upgrades?

I see a couple of plugs on the rear but didn't want to force the panel off and break any of the plastic.

Thanks in advance.

yea, take caution if its the first time youve done this kind of work. go into the lancer forums and see if any of them have a photo install on door panel popping to help you along the way. Its the same type of clips so its good to get a visual idea of what you are working with.

good luck finding speakers that fit. The stock one twist in and out (weird). So the actual opening in the door metal needs to be cut to make the opening bigger. Also a spacer afterward as the window is very close the cut out when rolled down.

Just did mine today. Alls you need are 1/2 inch spacers for all 4 doors. Worked perfectly metra makes them !

Thanks adam3250

Just ordered all my speakers and based on your advice ordered 4 1/2" spacers as well. Any advice on the following:

1) Door panel removal (ex. best tools to use to pop off plugs)?
2) Area you ran the amp/sub wiring if applicable?

Cheers

1. Nothing special, pick tool to take off little covers for the screws and than a #2 phillips screw driver to take the screws out. Other than that your hands will work fine just run them around the outline of the door and pop off as you go. Make sure you get all the screws out first before you pry !

2. Havent gotten that far just got my front components and rear co-axials in so far. Waiting for my 4 ch amp to come in. After that than that and my sub and amp will go in at same time cant firgure out if i want them under the seats or in the trap compartment in the back ( wondering if they will be able to breathe at all)

My System (in case you were curious) :

Memphis Power Reference 6.5" components in front and 6.5" coaxials in rear
Alpine 50x4 (RMS) 4ch amp
Alpine 500x1 (RMS) sub amp
10 inch JL W6V2 in custom ported box
Pioneer Premier DEHP880PRS

adam3250 thanks again.

I am Going with the following:

DVD/GPS after market double DIN dash Receiver
Alpine SPS-600 in rear door
Alpine SPS-600C in front door
Alpine MRP-F300 (50W x 4 channel) amp
Bazooka 6" amped (100 W) subwoofer in rear

Not going for ground shaking bass on this one, just something to fill in the bottom end a little...wife would never let me crank up the bass anyway!!!

Cheers
