Retrofit 2010 FUSE system to 2009 Outlander
I'm interested in retrofitting the new FUSE system (supplied to Mitsubishi through Johnson Controls) in the 2010 outlander into my 2009 (Nav & Rockford equipped) model. The improved bluetooth phonebook transfer and the ability to use the IPOD through the factory nav system would be awesome.
I'm looking for like minded individuals interested in partaking in this adventure and bouncing off some ideas. I've done some research and found out: - Adding the USB line in the Nav unit screen selector may involve an update of the nav software - addition of hardware : * USB line in center console * Upgraded bluetooth 2.1 module * possible custom wire harness Still investigating... any thoughts? |
I want "upgrade" to this option too, let informed us about your "research". . .

Here are some of the '10 MY parts you would probably need:
8750A209 Display, Multivision 8750A225 Control Unit, CAN BOX 8638A001 Inverter, AC 8755A032 Harness, Telephone 8755A029 Cable, USB 8785A015 Telephone Assy MN141360 Socket, AC Inverter 8755A034 Harness, Navigation Equip I don't know how much of the center console you need to replace to get the USB mount. Also, I don't think these parts are even available yet since the '10 model year vehicles are just now trickling in... I've got some calls into Mitsubishi Electric here in the US to see if I can get any info on how to update the software in the head unit. |
I would love to do this, as I am very disappointed in the MMCS in my Outlander.
Please keep us updated on your progress. Maybe I can get the local dealer to let me test drive one of these overnight so I can pull out the head unit and have a close look at all the connections. :D |

I was looking through some of the posts for the folks getting the DVD in motion patch. I wonder if there is a way to similarly upgrade the MMCS unit firmware to the same stuff that runs on the 2010 models.
I was told that the head unit controlled some of the impedance values for the speakers (don't know if that is really possible) and that the new firmware also allows for a small boost in power to 710 Watts from the previous 6-hundred something. The other day I was at my local dealer with my 3rd gen ipod and was unable to get the 2010 MMSC unit to recognize the ipod through the USB... little scary.. |

I think that only is necessary replace bluetooth module, I don't need USB port and my Outie has MMCS :)
If we could "port" the software/fireware from the '10 MMCS to the older ones, I would be in heaven. And replacing the Bluetooth module would be cake. I guess I should let Otaku out of my basement and see if he can do this :D |
If Otaku is willing to take a crack at it, more power to him. I have all the wiring diagrams (shop DVDs) for the 09 and 10 model. but I'm having a hard time understanding the wiring. I'm willing to try and get them to him if he wants to tackle any part of this....

Sorry I have not been around for a while. Was a little distracted by the birth of my first kid. My biggest obstacle right now is how to get the 2010 firmware onto my 09 unit? Any ideas anyone?....
