That should answer alot of questions.
Oh and by the way. i'm now at 1100 kms and crazy about the way it handle's on cold and wet pavement.
Funny things, Donna drove 2010 Out XLS with factory-installed Goodyear Eagle LS2. AFAIK it is all-season not winter tire, so did she violate the Quebec regulation?
By the way, in Quebec if you buy a car at winter, does dealership sell it with winter tires installed? Or it is the buyer's responsibility, to change tires on a brand new car?

No violation there, the car had Ontario plates so it is exempt. (Transit)

It is the owners responsibility to switch to winter tires. The dealers will gladly sell you some or as we see these days give you winter tires as they will be happy to have a sale in winter (The slow season).

We just got our first good dump of snow out here in alberta the past few days. I have brand new winter tires on my 2010 outlander xls and wow am I ever impressed. In snow mode, on ice and snow, its just like accelerating on dry pavement (almost). I also took it out into a quite industrial area with lots of fresh snow to test the cornering. It grips amazingly well and really drives into the corners with ease. The traction control works well too, but definately takes the fun out of it. lol.

I think I'll try it with the traction control off and just see how the s-awc works by its self the next time we get more snow.

Hankook iPike

They are a more economical tire. I just couldnt afford the ones I really wanted (Nokian Hakapilitta R, which I had one my other vehicals and absolutely love them) this year as I'm saving for my wedding next summer. That being said, they are very impressive. They grip well on both snow and ice and when cornering they really hold nicely. I'd totally recommend them to anyone looking for a great winter tire that wont break the bank.

The Gislaved Nord Frost 5 is a pretty good Tire. I used to drive on Nokian Tyres since 1989 and i can tell you that i am suprised at the way the Gislaved's are handling.
The price is pretty descent too. in Canada if you are a AAA or CAA member you can get a $55 $ rebate on them before taxes.

Interesting. I've never even heard of those out West here. Is there a major tire dealer that carries them?

Gislaved is now part of the Continental Tyre company. here's the link.

In Québec, with our european heritage ie : french, italian, russian ..... we tend to have a lot of products that are coming from europe. The weather is also similar here and there.

If you know the size you are looking for, no need to use the search by car maker. Use the By size. ie 215/70R16 that's the size i'm using on mine. My XlS comes on 225/55R18 and i downsized it like the LS and SE. Same overal diameter. 2000kms on them and i'm very suprised that they don't feel all mooshi like the Yokohama IG20 on my 08 Nissan Sentra.
