Is this a direct bolt-on?

 

I'm not an expert but I doubt you could just plug this into the base speakers. The upgraded Rockford Fosgate system is exactly that - a system. It's designed to work together. You would need the RF amplifier as well, and ensure the base speakers are compatible with the amp. I highly doubt it would work by just plugging and playing.

 

Good point...I wonder if this is any different than the normal XLS head deck?

 

The XLS, at least in Canada, comes with the upgraded Rockford Fosgate sound system. That's the exact same head unit as I have in my 08 XLS. I can't speak for other parts of the world...

 

its compatable with the ls and es models as its just added with the RF ready. Same installation.
