Default Sent in my first Used Oil Analysis

Sent off my first UOA off to Blackstone Labs today. We'll see how well the engine is wearing how long of an oil change interval I can run.

...unfortunately, they say it could be 3 weeks till I get the results.

That was Castrol Edge 5w20. I pretty much buy whatever full synthetic is on sale. I'm running Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 now.

I'll get it fixed tonight, but I noticed they had the wrong engine listed in the report (even though I wrote the correct one on my slip). They've made some changes...but not much.

Reading the comments on the report, it says you can go up to 7000 miles(11200 kms) before the next oil change. Isn't it a bit long?

okay, so here's the updated report. Sounds like there aren't too many samples with this engine, so they generically said "this type of engine"....

How much was the charge to do the oil analysis? I have been dropping the oil and filter on the Outie every 3-3500 miles, using Mobil 1 5W-20 syn and Mobil one filter.

35 bucks. Buying the synthetics on sale usually is about 35 bucks...so by running 7500 miles and sending in a sample ever other change...I'll be breaking about even and finding out how the engine is wearing.

You are definitely going way too short to get the full value of the oil. Mobile1 is about the best out there. Depending on how you drive (highway vs city), you might go past 7500.
