Slight knock when hitting the brake
Does anyone hears a slight knock coming from the front when you press the brake? Mine is an '08 LS. I remember hearing that during the first 3 months and then gone but came back again just recently. Is this normal?

I have an 08 ES and don't hear anything when applying the brakes, but I did have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra that made a noise when applying the brakes. Turned out it was the calipers and while the noise was annoying a repair shop that specialized in brakes assured me nothing was wrong with brakes. Apparently some calipers make more noise than others. Just to be safe though you should have it checked out by a mechanic.

by no means am I an expert, but I will say that mine does the same thing, and I thought that I had read it is something to do with the ASC or ABS resetting itself. Take this with a grain of salt, as I cant remember exactly what I read! cheers!

I made further observation and found out that the knocks are coming from under the dash on the driver side, does anyone noticed this?
|
Normally I only get the ABS resetting 'clunk' once a day after backing out of my driveway and putting my outtie in drive for the first time. The owners manual talks about this and says its normal. I believe whether you get the 'clunk' or not depends on how long the vehicle has been shut off.
Pilcan I don't have any knocks coming from under the dash. This doesn't sound normal to me. |
you wouldnt be hearing the click/knock some hear from down by the shifter that myself and others have mentioned in another thread?
|
Bleacherbum, sound coming from the shifter is different and I hear that one too when it is in P position when the engine is running but this click/knock is totally different. It's coming from the assembly/mechanism(covered with accordion type rubber) under the dash that being push by the brake pedal.
