temp gauge
 

hi guys,
I am new to this board. I am a happy owner of 07 outlander xls, and i'm wondering how hot anyone else's temp gauge is during normal operations. Today, I've noticed my temp gauge is reaching around half each time i've dirven it which isn't many at this point but it seems a bit hot to me. Never pay much attention before but I remember it should always under half. The vechile operates normal. Should I flush the coolant since it came up to above 50000 km?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

For me it always goes to exactly half. I don't remember it ever going above that, but it cools down really fast in the winter when going down hills.

since it is a digital gauge, it makes sense to have the "normal" hit halfway...makes it easy for everyone.

Back in May I bought a ScanGauge II which shows the digital reading of the temp. Here in the very hot Phoenix summer the gauge reads between 185-190 most of the time. The highest I've seen it go is to 195. The bar graph temp gauge on the Outlander almost always shows about in the middle.

I thought the exact thing you did when I first got my 09 Outlander. Also, I had a coolant issue when I frst had it so I was worried it was running hot. BUt it seems to fluctuate between middle and just one notch below middle. For example, If your odo read 1300, I think it would be between the 1 and 3 at it's hottest if I recall...

Even when towing a 1400kg van uphill in summer the guage never moved.
