Thinner oils used in '11+ ?

I was playing around on on Amsoil's site and looking at the fluids for my '07 and I wondered what a '12 would use. Same engine (except different pistons to reduce chamber volume for extra power) used througout, but in '11 they started to use 0w20. '07 through '10 they recommended 5w20. Got me thinking about trying out a 0w20 and seeing if there will be any fuel economy improvements. Stuff is same price at walmart. Can you guys with the '11 or '12 models with 3.0L verify if you should use 0w20?

My '11 4 cyl was 0w-20. My '12 3.0 is 5w-50

There was a TSB from Mitsubishi about changing the oil viscosity for 2011 on. I don't think it applied to anything before then - not sure why. Check with your dealers service advisor and see if they have an answer for why.

I just put in a fresh batch of 5W-20 last week. I'm not convinced the 0W-20 would give all that much more fuel economy even with our cold winters. It would probably be hard to measure but if you do a lot of short tripping then maybe.

You must better go for teh 5W-20, as you have told that you have put a fresh batch of 5W-20. because 0W-20is not better in the winters.

On a 2012 GT it is 5W20 in the manual, and 5W20 on the sticker under the hood.

Here it is 5W40 for the 2012 3.0L
