Tow hitch and electrical problem?
I just installed a tow hitch on my 2012 Outlander.
Went smooth, and evrything is working...just one annoying problem!
When i put the shifter in park (only in park), i get the this "clicking" sound from below the shifter when i hit the break. What can cause this?
The wiring harness i attached was:
1: conected one black and one white to the green wire for lights..brakelights?
As per instruction
2: black to earth
3: pre-wired connector that goes into OEM connector in the car (right side behind the wheel well plastics).
It sounds like an breaker or fuse..... I want to get rid of it
Any help is very much appreciated.

Did you use a Mitsu harness or an aftermarket.
I used the Mitsu on my '11 and had no problem. You should be drawing power from a plug taped to the core support or headlight on the left side (under the hood). The wiring harness is supposed to be isolated from the vehicle power system. The Mitsu kit comes with this pigtail to connect to the battery positive and plug into the wiring that goes to the rear of the car where you put the control box.
For the extra $30.00, the factory harness is well worth it.

Its an aftermarket harness.
There is no control box for my model (Im in Norway). And i followed the wiring diagram as it described.
Anyway, does anyone have an idea what the clicking sound comes from, and only when i hit the brake in park?

Sounds like the safety feature that requires you to have the brake applied before putting the transmission into gear. I have not put a towing package on our yet, but we get the clicking when in park and you hit the brake.
if that is it, then I'd think you might be able to take the console apart, find the relay and wrap it in sound dampener.

But why should it start making noice now? I guess this safety feature was there from the start Sounds like weird way to fix things..haha, are you serious? There must be a reason for the clicking to appear now....
I have double checked the wiring diagram today, all is done correct

If you are in Norway maybe you've installed the 13 pin euro plug wiring loom. This is devised to switch off the reversing light and fog lights on the car when the trailer is attached, transferring the signal to the equivalent lights on the trailer. Maybe what you can hear is a relay somewhere near the gearbox intended for the reversing light and tripping out because of some problem with the new loom. Its quite tricky to sort these multiplex systems out and probably cheaper in the long run to get your local specialist auto-electrical specialist to plug his test meter in.
