Trailer harness issue
So I'm trying to put a trailer hitch on my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander GT. I've gotten the actual towing hitch bolted on, but I'm having an issue with the wiring harness. I have scoured the internet and can't find anyone else that's had this issue.
The problem is the power supply. The included plug is supposed to plug into a 4-pole plug in the engine compartment, near the battery and headlights. The only plug I have is 6 pole and will not fit. It looks similar to what the harness is supposed to plug into and was hooked to the chassis behind the headlight next to the bttery. I can't find any other plug and I can't find anyone else with the same problem. I've attached an image or the plug for reference...any help would be greatly appreciated! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/mitsubi...928f118973.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/mitsubi...7908e8dcda.jpg |
Down in that area , taped to the harness is a 4 pin connector. IIRC it has a pink wire going to it. It may be hidden below the headlamp, on the bottom right of your photo. It has a weather proof cap on it

The one for the trailer wiring is black... Its not easy to find, even new techs to mitsubishi have trouble, but it is there. Use a mirror to have a look around if need be.

That seems like some kind of testing plug. The harness one is well hidden between headlight and radiator, it has better loom, and you may have to cut the tape to free it. Just feel it with your hand. Removing the battery may help you see it.
