Default Trailer Icon on 2007 xls

Hi: I noticed that there is an icon of a trailer on the dash that never lights up? I have the towing package and wonder if there is anything that I need to do because I tow a boat during the summer. Thanks

Do any of you have the OEM trailer plug? I have the OEM plug but have nothing to plug into it.

I noticed the icon I figured it came on when the trailer was plugged in.

My concern would be that you really shouldnt tow in auto, it would cause the tranny to shift in and out of 4,5,6 too often and cause it to heat up.

Especially if you dont have the 4wd model with the tranny cooler on it.

Someone in Europe mentionned that the parking assistant sensor (It's an option they can have) can detect that a trailer is attached (probably if you use the OEM wirring), and disables the sensors. I assume that might be what the light is for?!?

I Got my OEM wiring harness install by the dealer and the light is not showing when the trailer is plug.

Yes, but you don't have the parking sensors! I'm just speculating anyway!

I've noticed it, and did check the manual for a tow mode..didn't see anything.

I thought of 3 theories:

It'sa global model, there could be some engine/transmission combo somewhere else

The cluster is used on a different vehicle that has this feature

Future proofing.

I had noticed this also. I assumed it was for some option like heated mirrors that we did not get here in the US.

Would it be for when using trailer brakes? Maybe it comes on if there's a trailer brake failure? Just a thought.
