Some more info:

It looks like the Lancer guys have found the CVT to be troublesome around 280HP with only 7psi of boost. Going higher boost means fast spikes in HP and TQ being put on the CVT, even at a lower HP.

Take note of post #20 about the CVT booster... I'm going to look further into it later on.

Here's the CVT booster thing: mitsubishi Outlander SprintBooster

A post from a Nissan forum about turbo'ing an Altima with the JF011E, the good info starts in post #3: Can you turbo the CVT? - Nissan Forums : Nissan Forum

"We" really got screwed on the CVT. You in the form of not getting the larger, more durable JF010E rated for up to a 3.5L engine. And the Outlander Sport crew for not getting either the JF010E or the Ralliart's SST or w/e they call it.

Honestly, if my Sport had a good trans/CVT that could handle it, I would have gone turbocharged already.

Well, all 3.0 Outladers have Jatco JF613E 6 speed AT, which could tolerate much more torque.

At least 550 N·m guaranteed - that's the torque of V9X CR diesel engine on Renault Laguna III using same tranny.

Thumbs up Thanks for the reply :)

Thanks Burtonrider ..for all of the info. That's a shame that turbo (and supercharging for that matter) is a no-go for the 2.4L 4 cyl. Outlander.

Seems like you could literally take OUT the 4 cylinder and drop in a V6 in there though...looks like plenty of room...LOL!

Is there anything else that can be done to get even a modest HP increase though?

Oopss! overlooked the Sprint Booster link you posted at first....If you DO get this, I'd love to hear the results...if I can squeeze just a little more than 168 HP of the engine, I'll be happy for now.

I can't imagine it would be different than the JF011E CVT that's in the 2011 2.0L Outlander Sport and Lancer.

You guys are really trying to do the expensive route.. Ill tell you now what to do and trust me I'm doing it later this year and its he most cost effective route to take...

Evo 7 GTA.

Yes the auto Evo 7. They're 220kw where the manual is 206(depending on the spec tho) but none the less it is far cheaper (nz$2500) to buy and install the drivetrain and Ecu. You'll get great power gains and economy. Aswell as retain the s-ayc setup too..

There Iv givin my secret away but hp just do t see the point spending thousands on a turbo kit, dyne time, Ecu, etc where for $3k you have instant upgrade..

Iv already set 2 Evo 7 drive trains aside for this years projects and you can use the Airtrek turbo setup aswell. Effectively the same plants

Not sure how that's cost effective. Studying the service manual, everything is tied to ETACS ECU (radio, A/C, ASC, 4WD). You will either have a car with no features whatsoever or will have to get the equivalent compatible ECU from the EVO 7.

Isn't the ETACS ECU different from the engine ECU? I thought the ETACS was just the CAN-BUS system.

Yes you are right burt. The engine Ecu is different to the etacs, etacs is simply the electronics control module. Ie windows, locking, etc...
And nz models don't get the canbus system so again walk in the park for me
