What kind of oil you put in your engine???
Just for fun, what oil you're using?
I went to the dealer for a ««free»» oil change and ask for synthetic oil and they put Motul oil, i don't know this brand. I paid a difference of 40$ for synthetic instead of 80.00$. Normally, i put in all of my present and past cars Castrol Syntech oil and will do it for the future oil changes. I go to Costco and it cost me 42.00 $ cad for an oil change with 5W20 oil for my mazda 5, i guess it will be the same for my outlander, except maybe a little less expensive (10W30 instead of 5W20). So only for my knowledge, what oil you're putting in? |
Motul is 10x better than Castrol!!!
I use Royal Purple which is another true synthetic oil... |
Mobil1, AMsoil, Royal Purple are all top tier. Valvoline is decent too.
now i use whatever the dealership puts in. it's hard to notice a difference in modern cars especially if you change them at the proper intervals. but synthetic makes a bigger difference in older cars. Mobil1 made my 93 Infiniti J30 feel like a new car again! |
I have used Castrol Syntec 5W20 once. And couple more times - Pennzoil Platinum synthetic 5W20.

mobil lucas valvoline
all full synthetics mobil 1 fliters |
I use Total Quartz Ineo ECS this is the one recommended for the 2.2 DI-D engine...
It is pretty good so far... |
Valvoline 10W-30. The 10W-30 weight is used because of the heat in Phoenix.
|
I thought then you could use some 5W-50 for hot weather...
What I use is a 5W-30 and we have moderate weather here... |
The 10W-30 is pretty standard for here in Phoenix. I've lived here 25 years and never had any engine problems using that weight.

engine oil
Synthetic oils are all kept to a certain standard to be considered synthetic oil. Only real difference is each brand has a special additive to make thier a little better then everyone else's. I run Mobile 1 5w30 synthetic in my 95 and you can feel how much better it makes the engine run, almost like it is a knew car.
