Why not make a V6 for the outlander sport?
Just looking at this car it sits, looks, and drives like a sports care but why just put a NA 4 banger? Ya you get good gas mileage but some people like me want somethin under the hood as well.
So why do you think they didn't put a v6 or turbo the 4 cylinder that is already in there.

I think you will see more engine options coming in the next model year or so. When they introduced the 2nd generation Outlander in 2007 it only came with a V6 the first year, but in 2008 they added the 2.4L 4 cylinder.
I suspect Mitsubishi was being conservative and trying to keep costs down by only offering 1 engine on the Sport until they saw how sales went. The Sport has sold very well so I think a 2nd more powerful engine option will be coming.

The whole point of it is to get good gas mileage. The Outlander sells in some regions with that same 2.0L engine. Why they call it "sport" in the US is a mystery to me, all around the world it is either the RVR or ASX. Nowhere do they advertise it as being a performance car.
I doubt there will ever be a V6...will probably be a turbo I4 with direct injection. The 6B31 engine is a "truck" engine with a bias towards low end torque. That is why they made it SOHC, just like Honda does for their SUV engines (like the Pilot).
