Ok, so my 08 Outtie 2.4 CVT is at about 55k. Time to do the tranny fluid flush.

Of course, been told ONLY DIAQUEEN J1 for my year.

Dealer charges (just for fluids) $101.4l bottle. So for a complete flush need X2 so thast $202 to do it myself.

Been looking around constantly for alternatives, found this.....

Am I being cheap or smart?

I think cheap, if there's 1 thing iv learnt over my 8 years in miti it's never skimp on fluid, I use only mmspIII for the vr4's and I now use MHP now for the outlander and other modern vehicles

I'd run it. if they say it meets the specs, then I would think it is good. I've heard good things about ENEOS.. Go for it!

Edit: I think i'd call up Eneos first. I was looking to see if they had a compatible fluid for the ATF...looks like they don't. here's the confusing part on their website. They say the CVT-J1 fluid is compatible with the Eneos fluid towards the top...but the in the compatibility table at the bottom...not listed. http://www.eneos.us/product/7#vehicles

Reviving an old thread but I use Valvoline CVTF with no problems in my CVT (2011 Outlander Sport SE). It says its compatible with J1 on the bottle and is over half the price as to what J1 was at the dealer. Valvoline is $10-$12 a quart and DiaJ1 was $22.19 at the dealer. I heard J1 was no longer available from the dealer is this true? Was it updated to a different fluid?

If it says it meets the spec you should be good. Although most oil companies won't stand behind their products if something were to happen.
You will get what you pay for. Since synthetics are required for the CVT and ATF fluids they will be more expensive than some regular multi-ATF fluids. I'd start asking some serious questions for really inexpensive fluids.

AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid
AMSOIL has it's CVT fluid priced around $14 USD/quart suggested retail currently. It's definitly more expensive than Valvoline but AMSOIL has done field testing of Nissan CVT's to prove out the product you can read about. Check online for current pricing. The Tech department has also updated their specs to include:

• Mitsubishi DiaQueen CVTF-J1, CVTF-J4

Next time you are at the dealership ask them if there is a TSB modifying the spec of the oil for your transmission or give them a call.
