Default ZH Intsrument Cluster into a ZG

Hi Guys

I know this has been done before by a member on here - im looking for a bit of specific info

Instrument Clusters- where do they get thier info from

Im looking at changing my instrument cluster from my V6 outlander - I have the opportunity to get a ZH cluster from a wreck - but is only a 2.4l Auto vehicle

Will this be a problem? - or does the cluster get all its info from the car itself?

my concern is will the instrument cluster still show the full 6 gears that the V6 has - as well as any other info specific to the V6

The instrument clusters are the same. If you are looking for swapping red monochrome one to color one - they are is fully compatible, just plug and play.

And no, cluster has no engine- or transmission-depending abilities.

You also need to set the odometer reading, as it is stored in the cluster.
Make sure you get the right cluster for your region, as there are minor differences (i.e rear fog light LED missing on North American version).

hi all

well i have my instrument cluster, this one could be up for some modding as i prefer the appearance of the speedo and tacho dial background over the background of the ZH model....will post up some pics if i am able to do what i want

the main question though is.....how to dismantle the dashboard!, i cant find any info on the net on how it comes apart, and i do not want to just start yanking on things to figure it out, so any advice would be great thanks

It is pretty straighforward.
Pull left - oh no those Aussies - right went, unscrew top cover with "goggles" (lift it up, it will unfasten), 4 more screws and cluster is out.

Once you remove it carefully unlock all latches.

That' it.

Yet another custom design (not mine, I'm OK with stock):
