Hi everyone,
I just replaced the water pump in this car and I can't seem to get the timming belt tight enough is there any one that can help! I have been working at it all day, the belt wont stay in place it keeps sliding loose.

the timming belt and the tensiners were replaced prior to the water pump. But not by me by the previous owner

 

When you changed the water pump did you do the full 60k service? Like change the timing belt and tensioners etc etc etc??? If you didnt change the Hydraulic tensioner that might be part of your problem. The timing in those thigns are a pain in the ***. Where are you located?

 

probably the tensioner. Those should always be replaced when repacing the timing belt

 

yes i did do the full 60k service and i am located in central florida
this is the first interference motor i have done not fun lol but im sure i will get it right eventually
