99 Misubishi Eclipse Manual Transmission Noise

I recently purchased a '99 Eclipse, 2.0, manual transmission, non-turbo. A month later I experienced an immediate chatter/rattle noise every time the clutch depresses. It mostly clears when released, but intermittently chatters during mobilization. We replaced the clutch/throw out bering and put it back together with the same results . Pulled the tranny & took it to a professional who indicated bad internal berings/gears and a cost too excessive to rebuild. Bought a used tranny with <100K on it (6 mo warranty) and installed with the recently purchased clutch/throwout bering... Same noise still. I should tell you it sometimes goes away for brief periods. Tranny fluid is up to snuff. My son and I are racking our brains and becoming experts at pulling/reinstalling transmissions... but i'm getting older! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Did you replace the tob w/ an oem one? A lot of the aftermarket ones make noise.

What was the answer?

I have the exact same problem except on a 98 eclipse 5 speed non turbo. It is in a shop and the mechanic has replaced the clutch, throw out bearing, and is on the third used tranny and still the noise. He has taken it to a tranny shop and they swear the noise is coming from the tranny? Is is possible to have 3 bad tranny's?

What kind of Transmission fluid are you using?

What temperature (outside) range do you operate the vehicle in?

I don't know what type of fluid was in it. I am in Idaho with temps from around 10F to 45F. We actually isolated the problem to the tranny by starting the engine with the transmission pulled off and the noise went away. We had warrantees on the two used transmissions that we put in so that is good. I guess Mitsubishi is famous for bad transmissions.
