Car doesn't start on its own
I have a 2002 Montero sport and the car won't start on its own power, I can jump the car and it will start and run great as long as I don't turn it off, but with a good battery in it it won't start on its own! I checked the alternator and it's putting out 14v, the battery is 2 months old and I had it checked and it was good. Can you help with any ideas like relays and how I would check them? Thanks

RE: Car doesn't start on its own
If you have it jumped, let it run for a bit, then shut it off and try to turn it right back on, does it work? Also how good are your battery terminals. Does the car try to turn over? Sorry for all the questions i just need a bit more info before i give a good answer

Either battery or alternator.

ORIGINAL: Sebba Either battery or alternator. |
RE: Car doesn't start on its own
Clean the battery terminals on the battery AND the car. Then make SURE tehy're tight. That's the ONLY reason it would start from a jump but not on it's own.

RE: Car doesn't start on its own
Thanks to all, the problem was a bad connection on the battery, I cleaned both ends and that worked. I just never saw that before and I had just changed the battery, go figure... Thanks again!
