Default Fan and Compressor

I am having problems with my 1998 Montero Sport LS automatic, the fan in front of the truck comes on when I start the truck and stays on until I turn it off, and i found out the compressor is on and when the a/c or heater is not on... Can someone help me, I need a repair manual on this truck...

Does your vehicle have one fan or two? Most have one for the AC and one for the radiator. On many vehicles, if you have the heater system in "defrost" mode, the compressor will automatically run and so will the AC fan until the outside temperature reaches a certain low level, even though you did not press the AC switch. If the heater system is actually in the "off" position.....I would check the 'defrost' switch.

You definitely need to get a repair manual or a subscription to a site that offers this type of document service.

You checked the fuses visually, or with an ohm meter when they were removed from the fuse block. Sometimes fuses look good but they are not when you check them with a meter.

If you are having all these electrical issues, you really need to get a wiring diagram for your vehicle if it is not a fuse. It could be a bad common ground for the circuit.
