hello all, i am going to the bank tomarow to get a loan for a 1996 Eclipse RS it has about 113000 miles on it. Is there any plauging problems with them. example i own a 91 ford explorer and the automatic trannys are known for being crap. anything like that? just want to know so i know what to expect. thanks Nick

the most common problem you are gonna find with those cars is the head gasket is a pos and is known to go. Other than that they are pretty solid. Oh and the fact that they are slow. But still a good DD. It only comes with 140bhp. Just out of curiosity, how much are you buying it for

Good luck with the car, man, welcome to MF!
Like TE said, its a great DD.... but dont expect it to be a performer.
But... a bit pricey for a 100K+ 420a dont ya think?

Keep in mind the RS is the lowest in the line of Eclipses... For $3K with problems... Where have you been looking, and where are you located?

im located in Yreka Ca. i know its the lowest line, but i have always wanted an eclipse and have a good chance to get one. and i like to do my own repairs and such. having a car with problems is nothing new to me. my first two cars costed me about a grand or more a peice to get running right. or running in general. and just a oil pan fix should be awalk in the park. ive been looking like within 200 milesof me and this is more in my price range.
